To view the rest of the e-Source, please Register Here    REIKI : Guide - A Personal Experience/View     My Experience of Reiki y first experience of Reiki healing was short and sweet. When attending a Mind, Body, Spirit Festival in London, I developed the most intense headache, probably from the multitude of crystals on display, as I don’t normally suffer with headaches! Finding Reiki available on one of the stands, I paid for a short session and within minutes I felt grounded, calmer and the headache had dissipated. Without trying to sound too esoteric, though my experience was not very long, when I recall the experience, its almost as if I can still feel the warmth of the practitioners hands on my head and sense the relaxing energy flow through my body. It’s as if an energetic pattern has left an imprint on my being, which some might say it has! (Now, I bet you think I’m really wacky, but then hey, it affects everyone differently!!) Since then I been fortunate to receive Reiki from one of the chaps in my Tai Chi class. Every time, it has an incredibly relaxing and calming effect on me and I always sleep better  and have a clearer and quieter mind afterward. Sometimes, I really feel the energy moving, kind of like someone pulling a warm blanket down over me, starting at my head and if you looked at my face you’d probably see a big grin on it that lasts for several hours! Other times, I’ve felt as if my body was rising up and then floating back down - an incredible feeling. My Mum’s Experience of Reiki ! But, then everyone’s experience is slightly different. Recently I suggested to my Mum she should try it. For her, Reiki has been a great tension release and has helped increase her creativity (Mum is a journalist and a television producer - lots of deadlines!). At her sessions she says she feels very relaxed and that it’s nice to switch off and enjoy just being. She is often aware of her practitioner’s hands being very warm, but it’s afterward at home she’s felt the most effect. As the weeks progressed with her ‘treatments’, Mum went from being very angry in the first week, to being ecstatic in the second week to now reaching an even keel where she has a good level of energy and optimism. My thoughts on Reiki healing Given the amount of peace and relaxation we have both felt, I can certainly understand how this healing method can help a range of conditions, especially those related to emotional stress. Many people who work with ‘Vibrational and Energy Medicine’, believe that ‘illness’ comes about due to a disruption in our flow of energy or an imbalance which first occurs at a subtle-energy body level. I like to look at it like this, if your emotional state is good, you  maintain connection with the Divine or Universal  energy force and vibrate at a healthy level - you are literally ‘buzzing’ with life! If, however we are unhappy or angry or sad, and are literally ‘down and out’ - ‘down’ on vibration and ‘out’ of the loop, we become disconnected from the life-force. And without that ‘flow of life,’ energy imbalances are more likely to occur, and the physical manifestations are not far behind!
