WITCHCRAFT & WICCA - Guide - FAQ’s

hat are the Core Beliefs & Underlying Principles?

As with many pagan traditions, the practices and beliefs of Witches and Wiccans will all vary dependent on whose ‘path’ or particular tradition is followed, however they all encompass some level of respect for life and its natural order.

Working and living in harmony with the energies of the earth, acknowledging the seasons and the phases of the moon and planets, using nature to heal and above all welcoming change are the practices underlying that respect.

You can choose to follow someone else’s structure of belief such as Gardnerian or Alexandrian, or you may want to work alone as a Solitary Witch.

There are also a number of different traditions which can be followed originating from cultures such as the Norse, Celtic, Egyptian and Roman to name but a few. Each have their own deities or gods and goddesses who are believed to be responsible for different aspects of life and recognised accordingly at different points of the year, or ‘called upon’ in certain situations.

On the other hand, there are those who recognise only one divine Mother/Father figure, energy or Spirit.

Many work directly with these ‘beings’; others see their worship or celebration as a symbolic recognition of the divine union between the male and female aspects of life.

Whichever path or route you decide to follow, there should be no one person telling you which way is wrong or right or better. There are no set rules or guidelines except one, which may or may not be a modern addition ...

...‘An it harm none, do what you will’
